The Oscar-winner released a statement confirming her son’s death (viaPeople Magazine).
“He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others.
Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time.
Alexander was King’s only child, whom she shared with her ex-husband, record producer Ian Alexander Sr.
The Los Angeles County Coroner officially ruled Alexander’s death a suicide.
His death came just days after he celebrated his 26th birthday.
Alexander was a DJ, who followed in the footsteps of his father by breaking into the music business.
“You don’t know what unconditional love is.
“When you experience it, it’s the most fulfilling [thing] ever.”
This week, King’s close friend and fellow actress, Vivica A.
Fox, gave fans an update about how she’s doing following her son’s tragic death.

Fox appeared on “Cocktails with Queens” and spoke out about her beloved friend Regina King.
“I was with Regina last night.
She’s okay,” Fox tearfully said.
“More than anything else, I’m glad I got to hug her and look in her eyes.
This has been absolutely one of the longest weekends that I’ve ever had in my life.
It’s like I can’t stop crying.”
“She said to tell everybody that she’s gotten y’all texts.
The outpouring of love for her, her family and her son … she appreciates it.”
